This interdisciplinary course invites students to understand the contemporary cultural phenomena of fashion, design and art in Spain as interrelated, mutually influential and deeply connected to issues regarding politics, society, national identity and culture at large in Spain. We will question and consider “Art” within a multidisciplinary focus and will examine aesthetic human expression taken into consideration a variety of disciplines and theories: from “high” art (architecture and painting), to design (artistic and aesthetic objects), from high fashion (Haute couture and fashion illustration) to personal style (textiles, fashion trends, and fashion blogs) and from literature to film, visual arts, advertising and digital products. The course, taught in English, fulfills CA-1 and CA-4 Gen Ed requirements
