  • Alternative Break to Appalachia Mountains

Have you been to the Appalachian Mountains? Don’t miss out on your chance to serve in the natural beauty of the America's Appalachian region. Join the week long alternative break focused on rural poverty.

This trip offers a unique experience featuring both direct, and indirect service. Participants will learn about the underlying effects that contribute to rural poverty and how rural poverty can affect an individual’s health and well being. We will be staying with out community partner Sunset Gap, a mission camp nestled in the mountains of eastern Tennessee. Participants will serve throughout the week taking part in projects such as warehouse organization, working in the thrift store, construction projects, and serving meals at Feed My Sheep, a local food kitchen. This immersive service trip offers immense opportunities to form bonds with a wide variety of people, and for participants to expand their comfort zones.

Do not miss out on your chance to take part in an alternative break you’ll never forget. This trip includes eight pre-trip meetings and one or two post trip meetings.
