Office of Teacher Education

  • Office of Teacher Ed Micro-Funding Initiative

    Dear Colleagues,

Last year, the Office of Teacher Education began our micro-funding initiative. Each semester, we awarded 8-10 projects! You can read more about the funded projects here. This fall, we will be starting our second year of this well-received initiative.

Far too often, teacher education instructors (like PK-12 educators) spend our own money to organize special things for our students. This funding is designed to support unique, one-time class experiences (under $150 each) for students in your courses. For example, are you organizing a panel of experienced teachers and want to give them a small stipend? Would you like to rent a film from Netflix or Amazon Prime to show in class, one that’s not available in our library system? Would you like to buy specialized art supplies for an in-class project? While funding for food is not available through this initiative, there are many possibilities! You can read about some of those possibilities in the link above, as well.

To be eligible for this funding, you must be teaching a course in IB/M or TCPCG in Fall 2024. Please complete this very brief application by Friday, September 13 if you are interested in applying for micro-funding. We will do our best to fund as many instructors as possible. Priority will be given to graduate students and adjunct instructors and to those who have not yet received funding, though everyone who is interested should apply. Please feel free to email me with an idea to see if it qualifies under the budget guidelines.

Again, thank you for all that you are already doing and will do this semester!

    In solidarity,

    Alyssa
