  • Summer Opportunity - Honors Program Orientation

    Honors Orientation Graduate Advisor
    May 14, 2024 – July 9, 2024

     

    The Honors Program is looking for graduate students to serve as Orientation advisors and work with incoming first-year Honors undergraduate students and guide them through the course registration process during the Storrs campus Orientation program.

    The successful candidates will receive training for Honors requirements, PeopleSoft Student Admin registration procedures, advising expectations, and UConn general education requirements.

     

    Must be available for training on the following (tentative) dates:

    • May 14, 9 am – 4 pm
    • May 16, 9 am – 4 pm
    • 4 hours (split between 2 – 3 virtual sessions) between May 15 – May 22

     

    Summer Orientation working hours:

    May 24 – July 9
    Tuesdays and Fridays, 8 am – 12:15 pm, Storrs campus

    (Some weeks vary. No registration sessions on 5/28 and 7/5)

    Up to 4 additional hours each week for advising preparation, follow-up communications, and record-keeping

     

    Minimum qualifications:

    • Excellent interpersonal skills
    • Excellent written and oral communication skills
    • Ability to work independently and solve problems in a flexible and/or creative way
    • Must be enrolled in a UConn graduate program
    • Must be eligible and available to work during the full May 14 – July 9 period

     

    Preferred qualifications:

    • Experience working with high-achieving students
    • Experience with academic advising/coaching

     

    Appointment period:

    May 14 – July 9
    Must be eligible and available to work during the full May 14 to July 9 period

     

    Compensation will be determined by contractual Graduate compensation guidelines.
