The University of Connecticut School of Dental Medicine is seeking a creative, highly-motivated, and detail-oriented communications student for an internship.
Interns will have an opportunity to be creative in applying skills in a variety of venues and formats.
Anticipated activities will include, but not be limited to:
- Drafting stories for UConn Today that highlight student and faculty accomplishments
- Producing internal communications for staff, faculty, and students
- Assisting with clinical marketing efforts
- Promoting and covering events on the UConn Health campus
- Preparing remarks, briefing materials, and presentations for the Dean
The preceptor for the interns is the School of Dental Medicine Communications Manager. Incumbents will work with the Communications Manager, Dean of the School of Dental Medicine, and members of the UConn Health communications team. The intern will also assist with projects alongside the UConn Foundation, and Alumni Relations as needed.
This position is located at UConn Health in Farmington and the majority of the work can be done remotely. The position averages 10 hours a week.
Qualifications:
- Enrolled in and in good standing as a communications, marketing, journalism, or business major
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills
- Detail-oriented self-starter able to meet deadlines
- Proficient in computing applications, such as Microsoft Office Suite. Graphic design experience is a plus.
- Ability to work as part of a team
- Previous internship experience in communications or the healthcare field is not required, but preferred
