    Current UConn students from all schools, colleges, and majors are invited to submit short written essays or short video essays about a positive experience they had in one of their UConn Undergraduate General Education courses*. Students may respond to one or more of the following prompts.


    Tell us about a UConn General Education course that…
    1. Helped you choose your major or your calling in life.
    2. Helped you discover a new passion or skill.
    3. Made you realize something important about yourself, others, or the world.
    4. Was so much more than you expected it to be.


    Be sure to mention the course number and title of the class somewhere in your essay.

    Length: Maximum of 500 words for a written essay, or a maximum of 2 minutes for a video essay.
    Deadline: November 16, 2018 by 11:59pm
    Other Restrictions: Each student may enter up to two times. (Submit a separate form for each entry.)
    To Enter: Complete the form and upload your essay at https://geoc.uconn.edu/essay-contest-form/
    Format: Word doc/docx, or PDF files for a written essay; mp4, mov, or avi files for a video essay
    The Fine Print: By submitting to this contest, you are granting the General Education Oversight Committee (GEOC) at the University of Connecticut permission to publish your essay on its website and on other University-affiliated media and social media platforms. Please note that video essay entrants who win prizes will also be required to submit transcripts of their videos for closed captioning purposes.
