    WHUS Radio is a center for creativity and media production at the University of Connecticut.

    WHUS is a non-commercial college radio station broadcasting on 91.7 FM at 4,400 watts to Connecticut, Southern Massachusetts and Western Rhode Island. The FM signal also streams online and is accessible on the WHUS Radio smartphone app.

    In 2014, WHUS also opened a multimedia production studio where students can edit audio and video, record, mix and master recording artists.

    WHUS primarily provides a learning environment for students and individuals in the UConn community who are interested in broadcasting and media production. Three times a year, WHUS offers a broadcast training program, for students and community members interested in programming on WHUS-FM or WHUS2. WHUS also offers extensive training in other aspects of broadcast (music, news, sports, engineering, and production) as well as training in other media production (podcasting, videography, and mixing/mastering).

    WHUS is looking for a Music Promotions Intern, who will:

    • Assist the Music Director and Assistant Music Director with the operation of the Music Department at WHUS Radio
    • Assist the Music Director and Assistant Music Director in facilitating the New Music Committee
    • Engage in learning how to process new music submissions and tracking plays
    • Engage in learning how to communicate effectively with promoters and agents
    • Write music related content for the WHUS website (music reviews, concert reviews, etc.)
    • Design and execute a music-related project (i.e. workshop, lecture, playlisting project, etc.)


    Position Requirements include:

    • Passion for music of all genres and ability to stay up to date on current music trends
    • Strong communication skills
    • Ability to work in a fast paced environment
    • Ability to self-motivate and initiate new projects
    • Ability to work a flexible schedule
