  • Beyond UConn: Event for Seniors

    Beyond UConn, Transitioning to Life after Graduation, a conference for students graduating from UConn. This conference is for both undergraduate and graduate students and is designed to provide assistance in the transition from being a student to whatever next steps they are embarking on.

     

    The conference will be held on Wednesday, April 11, 2018 from 5:30 – 9:00 PM in Rome Ballroom. The conference will include a panel discussion on Understanding Company Culture and the following breakout sessions:

     

    • Beyond UConn- A Strong Start to Your New Job: What students should expect in on their first day, first month, and first six months of a new job.  
    • I Have a Paycheck: Now What? Basics of how students can manage their money each paycheck, while gaining tips and strategies to feel confident managing their finances.
    • Moving Out and On: Help students understand the important aspects of living independently or relocating. Students will develop a greater understanding of exploring housing options, how to sign a lease, evaluating transportation needs, and the essentials of auto and renters insurance.
    • The Work/Life #Sway: Share the essentials of finding a natural ebb and flow between work priorities and life. Students will learn how to help them sway their new work life with also having time for themselves and their career.
    • The Search is On: For students who may be unsure of their plans beyond UConn and figuring out next steps, provides tips on the job search, interviewing, gap years, and other opportunities.
