    Scholars Strategy Network 2018-2020 Postdoctoral Fellowships (new funding)

    The Scholars Strategy Network is opening applications for the second cohort of its two-year Postdoctoral Fellowship to support early-career scholars in any discipline who wish to engage in research and public scholarship to improve public policy and strengthen democracy. After an intensive, short boot camp, each fellow will be based at a university in one of SSN’s regional chapters in either Salt Lake City, San Diego, Utah or Orono, Maine. The program received some last minute funding. They cannot change the deadline, but they have been in contact with me and are happy to talk with potential applicants.     International Foundation for Electoral Systems – Hybl Fellowship

    The William and Kathy Hybl Fellowship Program at the International Foundation for Electoral

    Systems (IFES) brings outstanding graduate students to the Washington, D.C. area each year to conduct research in democracy development, election administration, and civic participation in the political process. Previous fellows have found the Hybl Fellowship to be an excellent boost to their careers in international development or research. Hybl Fellows have direct access to IFES experts in democracy-building and research and benefit from Washington, D.C.’s wide network of democracy professionals, institutions, and resources. The Hybl Fellowship is open to students who have completed their undergraduate studies and who are working towards a graduate degree in international relations, political science, public administration or a related area.

    Crop Science Society of America - Gerald O. Mott Scholarship for Meritorious Graduate Students

    The Gerald O. Mott Scholarship is provided to a meritorious graduate student in crop science. The scholarship is supported by gifts from the Gerald O. Mott family to the Agronomic Science Foundation (ASA) and administered by the Crop Science Society of America (CSSA). Nominees will have completed at least one year of graduate work leading to a M.S. or Ph.D. degree in a field of emphasis within any of the CSSA divisions. Nominees are required to be CSSA or ASA members.

    National Endowment for the Humanities Mellon Fellowships for Digital Publication

    Through NEH-Mellon Fellowships for Digital Publication, the National Endowment for the Humanities and The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation jointly support individual scholars pursuing research projects that require digital expression and digital publication. To be eligible for this special opportunity, an applicant’s plans for digital publication must be essential to the project’s research goals. That is, the project must be conceived as digital because the nature of the research and the topics being addressed demand presentation beyond traditional print publication. Successful projects will likely incorporate visual, audio, and/or other multimedia materials or flexible reading pathways that could not be included in traditionally published books.

    National Endowment for the Humanities Postdoctoral Fellowships

    The National Endowment for the Humanities, a federal agency in Washington, D.C., administers a fellowships program that provides financial support for individuals who wish to pursue scholarly research projects in the humanities. Projects should involve advanced research that is of value to scholars, general audiences, or both. Recipients usually produce articles, monographs, books, digital materials, archaeological site reports, translations, editions, or other scholarly resources in the humanities.

    CDC Evaluation Fellowship Program

    The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) seeks applicants for the 2018 class of the CDC Evaluation Fellowship Program. This is the 8th year of this initiative, and represents a major commitment by CDC to program evaluation and program improvement. Fellows work under the leadership of CDC’s Chief Evaluation Officer; they will be matched with CDC host programs in Atlanta, Georgia to work on program evaluation activities for/with those programs.

    Boston Athenæum Short-Term Fellowships

    The Boston Athenæum offers short-term fellowships to support the use of Athenæum collections for research, publication, curriculum and program development, or other creative projects. Each fellowship pays a stipend for a residency of twenty days (four weeks) and includes a year’s membership to the Boston Athenæum. Scholars, graduate students, independent scholars, teaching faculty, and professionals in the humanities as well as teachers and librarians in secondary public, private, and parochial schools are eligible.

    Arizona Hydrological Society Scholarships

    AHS will award three $2,000 scholarships for the academic year. The purpose of the award is to encourage full-time students in hydrology, hydrogeology, or other water resources related field at an Arizona university or college to excel in their area of study. Any junior, senior, or graduate student who fits into this category is qualified to apply.

    American Water Resources Association – Richard A. Herbert Memorial Scholarship

    At least one $2,000 scholarship will be awarded to a full-time graduate student enrolled in a program relating to water resources for the 2018-2019 academic year. Scholarships will be awarded to the student most qualified by academic performance. Each applicant must be a national AWRA member. Consider becoming a member! Measures of academic performance include the cumulative grade point average, relevance of the student's curriculum to water resources, and leadership in extracurricular activities related to water resources.

    Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences - Nicholl Fellowships in Screenwriting

    The Academy Nicholl Fellowships in Screenwriting is an international screenwriting competition established to identify and encourage talented new screenwriters. Entry scripts must be the original work of one writer, or of two writers who collaborated equally, and must be written originally in English. Adaptations and translated scripts are not eligible. Up to five $35,000 fellowships are awarded each year to promising new screenwriters. Screenwriters who have not earned more than $25,000 writing fictional work for film or television are eligible to apply.

    American Floral Endowment (AFE) Scholarships

    The Endowment supports educational efforts focused on attracting and retaining young people to the industry. Through annual scholarships and paid internship opportunities, AFE has contributed more than $1 million in funding to students studying floriculture and environmental horticulture.

    Department of Energy Office of Science Graduate Student Research (SCGSR) Program

    The goal of the Office of Science Graduate Student Research (SCGSR) program is to prepare graduate students for science, technology, engineering, or mathematics (STEM) careers critically important to the DOE Office of Science mission, by providing graduate thesis research opportunities at DOE laboratories.  The SCGSR program provides supplemental awards to outstanding U.S. graduate students to pursue part of their graduate thesis research at a DOE laboratory in areas that address scientific challenges central to the Office of Science mission. The research opportunity is expected to advance the graduate students’ overall doctoral thesis while providing access to the expertise, resources, and capabilities available at the DOE laboratories. The SCGSR program provides supplemental funds for graduate awardees to conduct part of their thesis research at a host DOE laboratory in collaboration with a DOE laboratory scientist within a defined award period. The award period for the proposed research project at DOE laboratories may range from 3 to 12 consecutive months.

    Claude Leon Foundation Postdoctoral Fellowship Program

    The flagship educational initiative of the Claude Leon Foundation is the Postdoctoral Fellowship program in the sciences, now in its twentieth year. The main goal of the program is to help build research capacity in South African universities and research institutions. The Foundation funds both South African and foreign postdoctoral scientists in Science, Engineering and Medical Sciences to increase the volume and quality of research output, develop and transfer technical skills, and generally enhance the research culture in South Africa.

    ABC Humane Wildlife Control & Prevention, Inc Academic Scholarship

    ABC Wildlife is introducing a scholarship designed to increase the number of women studying and influencing the future of science, including technology, engineering and math.     National Biosafety & Biocontainment Training Program Fellowship

    The NBBTP is a partnership between the Division of Occupational Health and Safety (DOHS) and the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) at the National Institutes of Health. This is a rare opportunity for individuals seeking work in high containment facilities to receive professional training in biosafety and biocontainment at one of the foremost biomedical research centers in the world. Masters or post-graduate with academic degree(s) in microbiology, public health, medicine (human or veterinary), or other allied sciences (industrial hygiene, engineering, etc.) required.

    Oak Ridge Institute for Science and Education List of Postdocs in National Labs and Federal Research Facilities

    If you are a recent doctoral graduate and would like to obtain additional training within your field of study, the Oak Ridge Institute for Science and Education (ORISE) offers postdoctoral fellowships and research opportunities at national laboratories and federal research facilities nationwide. For scientists who have recently completed their Ph.D. in a science-related discipline, a postdoc research fellowship can make an excellent start to a career at a DOE national laboratory or other federal research facility. ORISE sponsors many postdoctoral research programs across the United States, many of which have immediate openings for qualified candidates.
