Assistant Events Coordinator
Staff Contact Person: Alison Rublemann
Time Requirement: 20+ hours
Availability: No restrictions, open
Skills Needed (or willing to learn):
- Experience organizing large fundraising events and/or festivals (more details in “Description”)
- Ability to coordinate staff/volunteers to create a smooth, functioning event
Description:
- Assist with the running of ANC’s large fundraising events (Earth Day, Maple Festival, Autumn Fest, Mud Day)
- Contact exhibitors and vendors, making sure to confirm whether or not they will be able to attend the event
- Reach out to the community for donations for our raffle
- Create fliers, posters, and other publications advertising the event
- Contact newspapers, magazines, websites, and other sources that could potentially publicize our events
- Work closely with the Director and Assistant Director to form a unified vision of the festival/event
Marketing Specialist
Staff Contact Person:Alison Rubbleman/Wendy Sabol
Time Requirement: As needed
Availability: Open, no restrictions
Skills Needed (or willing to learn):
- Experience using Microsoft Publisher, or a similar program, to make fliers for events
- Experience making fliers and/or brochures for events/programs
Description:
- Make fliers/posters for upcoming events at least one month in advance
- Make brochures for fundraising events/festivals that showcase all of the events/programs taking place that day
Social Media Specialist
Staff Contact Person: Alison Rubelmann/Wendy Sabol/Amie Ziner
Time Requirement:4+ hrs/week
Availability: Open, no specific time/day needed
Skills Needed (or willing to learn):
Experience using Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and other popular social media sites
Ability to use proper grammar and formal wording
Knowledge of natural history and science, particularly local natural history and science
Description:
Consistently keep up-to-date the Ansonia Nature Center’s online presence
Update all of the ANC’s social media profiles with recent photos of events, programs, and sightings that have taken place at the ANC, as often as possible
Interact with followers of the ANC’s social media presence in a positive way
Consistently touch base with the Director/Assistant Director so they are aware of ANC’s social media presence.
Special Events Assistant
Staff Contact Person: Alison Rublemann
Time Requirement: 4+ hours (minimum)
Availability: at least the 6 weeks leading up to a major special event
Skills Needed (or willing to learn):
- Experience working at fundraising events and/or festivals (more details in “Description”)
- Ability to work with staff/volunteers/donors to create a smooth functioning event
Description: (To do some or all of the following:)
- Volunteer during one (or more) of ANC’s large fundraising events (Earth Day, Maple Festival, Autumn Fest, Mud Day)
- Contact exhibitors and vendors, making sure to confirm whether or not they will be able to attend the event
