    Description*

    We are looking for student interns that are interested in government relations and advocacy work on behalf of exciting businesses and social service organizations.

    You will be connecting with a number of key interest groups, state legislators and government officials, while working in the State Capitol and Legislative Office Building each day.

    Camilliere, Cloud & Kennedy, based in West Hartford, Connecticut is a government relations, public affairs grassroots and business development firm that actively promotes legislative, administrative, and regulatory interests for our clients to garner favorable policy outcomes.     The Internship Experience in Government Relations: The student intern selected for this government relations experience will have the opportunity to:

    • Work directly with the Camilliere, Cloud & Kennedy lobbying team on a daily basis. o Attend public hearings and committee meetings related to bills of interest.
    • Write and share synopses of committee meetings and hearings with clients.
    • Track bills of interest and amendments through the legislative process. o Experience and participate in state government in a hands-on way.
    • Assist in the management of client relationships.
    • Gain valuable political experience to prepare for a successful professional career.

     

    Requirements*

    Candidates applying for the position should demonstrate:

    • The ability to communicate effectively across multiple audiences, and in both verbal and written form.
    • Strong cognitive skills, including an interest in reading and writing.
    • An aptitude for successful teamwork in a dynamic setting.
    • Professionalism and self-awareness.

    Work Requirements:

    Student selected to complete the internship will work either full-time (5 days per week) or part-time (2 or 3 days per week, e.g., Monday, Wednesday, Friday or Tuesday, Thursday) throughout the spring Legislative Session from February 5, 2018 through May 9, 2018.

    • Student will need to provide their own transportation to and from the State Capitol in Hartford; Parking is free and a stipend will be provided to compensate for transportation costs.
