    Job Description

    This position is for a student administrative assistant for the Graduate Student Senate. The GSS admin assistant will have various tasks that will help GSS operate and extend its image across campus. Some of these include holding office hours, fulfilling administrative support, attending meetings, supporting and setting up events, reviewing GSS documents, editing or creating digital uploads for record-keeping, and overseeing the arrival and set-up of materials needed for both general and executive board meetings. 

    In addition, the GSS administrative assistant will be expected to manage and analyze spreadsheets, maintain and organize archival records, relay information about GSS Emergency Loans, engage in marketing plans and share GSS news. This position depends on flexibility and tasks will shift depending on need and availability throughout the semester.

    Job Requirements

    The ideal candidate

    • Must be a member of the Graduate student Community at UConn.
    • Must be available to hold office hours and attend meetings as negotiated with the Executive Board.
    • Must be able to work 10 hours a week during regular academic semesters and 6 hours a week over the summer, with consent of the student’s adviser.
    • Must have high proficiency in common computer software, including but not limited to Microsoft Office, Outlook and Google applications.
    • Demonstrates excellent problem solving, critical thinking and organization skills
    • Possesses good written and oral communication skills.
    • Must be able to communicate effectively with GSS members, administrators, and the graduate community at large.
    • Must be able to work in a dynamic environment.
    • Should be excited and enthusiastic about the mission and vision of GSS.

     

    Hourly Rate

    $15.00/hour
