  • Dissertation Teaching Fellowship

     

    Kenyon College in Ohio offers 2 yearlong awards for PhD students from an underrepresented group to write their dissertation and teach on-campus. The program assists young scholars in the final stages of their doctoral work with financial assistance to complete their dissertations while receiving exposure to faculty positions in a top tier liberal arts college. Kenyon College is located in Gambier, Ohio, about 50 miles away from Columbus. The Fellow is expected to complete the dissertation and to teach one course each semester, usually in the their general research area. Fellows are also expected to offer a college lecture or departmental seminar on the dissertation topic at some point during the academic year in residence.

    Open only to U.S. citizens or permanent residents.

     

    ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

    Must be a member of an underrepresented group (e.g., ethnic minorities; women in fields that attract mostly men, or men in fields that attract mostly women; and persons who are first-generation college attendees). The program is for scholars in the final stages of their research-based doctoral work who need only to finish the dissertation. Individuals who aspire to a teaching and research career. Cover letter discussing the applicant's research and scholarship undertaken, its relevance to the field or discipline, prior teaching experience, and applicant's eligibility for the fellowship. CV. 3 letters of recommendation.

     

    STIPEND

    Stipend of $36,000, plus housing, a small moving allowance, and a small allowance for travel to conferences.
