  • NDSEG Fellowship

    The Department of Defense (DoD) offers approximately 200 3-year fellowships, supports PhD study in science and engineering disciplines of military importance. The NDSEG is also sponsored by the Air Force Office of Scientific Research (AFOSR), the Army Research Office (ARO), the High Performance Computing Modernization Program (HPCM), and the Office of Naval Research (ONR), under the direction of the Director of Defense Research and Engineering (DDR&E). Fellows will attend a United States institution of their choosing. With this fellowship, the DoD funds scholars to increase the number of future scientists and engineers. High-achieving fellows will get the opportunity to pursue research projects they find interesting.

    ACADEMIC LEVEL
    Prospective Graduate Students. Current Graduate Students.
     

    CITIZENSHIP

    Open only to U.S. citizens. Also open to nationals of the US.

     

    ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

    Fellowships are intended for students at or near the beginning of their doctoral studies in science, technology, engineering, or math. Fellows do not incur any military or other service obligation. Must have received or be on track to receive their bachelor's degrees by the end of the academic year. Or, have completed less than 2 full-time years of graduate study in the discipline in which they are applying. Academic records. Personal statement. Research proposal relevant to DoD. Transcripts. At least 3 recommendation letters. GRE scores. Research, leadership, and teamwork experiences. Applications are encouraged from women, persons with disabilities, and members of ethnic and racial minority groups. However, all applicants are judged solely on the basis of academic ability in fields of interest to the DoD.

     

    STIPEND

    Covers full tuition and fees up to four years. Includes a monthly stipend and up to $1,500 in medical insurance.
