The Cultural Services of the French Embassy in the U.S. offers fellowships for PhD research in France with a French research institution for up to 8 months. The HSS Chateaubriand fellowship program's purpose is to foster bilateral cooperation at Ph.D. and research level, and to build and strengthen bridges between our two nations. Any discipline of the Humanities and Social Science is welcome to apply. There are three types of fellowships. The Fall Fellowship lasts for 4 months and starts October 1st. The Spring Fellowship lasts for 4 months and starts February 1st. The Year-long Fellowship lasts for 8 months and starts October 1st.
DISCIPLINES
Humanities. Social Sciences. Any discipline of the Humanities or Social Sciences.
ACADEMIC LEVEL
Current Graduate Students. Students Working on Doctoral Dissertation.
CITIZENSHIP
No citizenship requirements. Candidates do not have to be U.S. citizens, but they must be enrolled in an American university. French citizens are not eligible to apply.
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
Must be currently working on their PhD. Candidates must obtain a letter of recommendation from their advisor(s) in the U.S., as well as a letter of invitation from a professor affiliated with a French university or research institution. Description of the research project.
STIPEND
Monthly stipend of 1,500 Euros plus health insurance and travel expenses.
