    Luz Marilis López, PhD, MPH, MSW was born and raised in Puerto Rico. She earned her Ph.D. degree in Social Work and a Masters in Public Health (MPH) from Tulane University in New Orleans, Louisiana. Dr. López is a faculty member in the Clinical Department at Boston University School of Social Work. She teaches clinical practice, group work, culture and narrative stories, and advanced courses in substance abuse and trauma. She is the Associate Director of the dual degree MSW/MPH and chair of the Equity and Inclusion committee.  Her research interests are in the areas of addiction, trauma and global health with immigrants and refugees. She is currently working in a HRSA funded grant with focus on inter-professional collaborations in primary care with the Boston Medical Center and the Boston University Center for Innovation in Social Work and Health (CISWH).
