The following positions are available:
- 20 hour Release-Time Union Staff Organizer Position (GA)
- 10 hour hourly Union Staff Organizer Position (non-GA, paid hourly)
The GEU-UAW is looking to fill one full-time (20 hours per week) release-time Graduate Assistantship, and one half-time (10 hours per week) hourly position for the coming spring 2018 semester.
Job duties for these positions include:
- Supporting the operations of the Local Union through organizing, one-on-one communication with members, supporting the elected officers, helping with grievance cases, and performing other day-to-day tasks as needed. Willingness and ability to seek out and speak to fellow GAs about work issues is a must.
Job qualifications include:
- Must be a graduate student at UConn
- For the GA position, must have or expect to have a spring 2018 appointment in order to be eligible for this “release-time” position.
- Must be available to travel to the Storrs campus regularly throughout the spring semester.
- Must be comfortable with in-person communication with the membership, i.e. one-on-one conversations.
- Must be willing to work as part of a team, advised by elected officers.
