  • 3MT Prep Today - Using Storytelling

    WHEN & WHERE: Monday, November 6, 2017 / 12-1:00PM / Video Theater 2 - Homer Babbidge Library

BROUGHT TO YOU BY: Dr. Kenneth Noll, Professor, University of Connecticut -Department of Molecular & Cell Biology

This session is for individuals seeking to participate in UConn's 3MT® competition. (Join the fun & prizes too)

(Competitors must be active PhD and Professional Doctorate (Research) candidates who have successfully passed their confirmation milestone (including candidates whose thesis is under submission) by the date of the competition in April.

Seating is limited – Please Register here

WHAT YOU'LL GAIN: In only three minutes, you have to make your audience understand why you are undertaking the subject of your thesis, how you are doing it, and what you plan to accomplish it. Importantly, you have to make them care about your topic. How do you connect with them, not just on an intellectual level, but on a personal level? How can you structure your presentation to be most effective? This session will discuss these challenges and present ideas for you to create a story about your work. Humans are wired to follow stories and remember their contents.  By the end of the session, you will have the beginnings of your story that you can continue to build afterwards.

Access competitor guidelines and watch UConn’s 2016 3MT® winner and the international People’s Choice winner: here

UConn’s live competition will occur Thursday, April 5, 5:00PM – 7:00PM The winning presentation will be submitted to the 2018 Universitas 21 Competition.
