    Visual Communication Design Intern
    ITW – Waterbury, CT

    Job Description:
    The Visual Communication Design intern is responsible for all communication and design projects assigned by the Plant Manager, Organizational Development Manager, and Human Resources Manager. The ideal candidate will be a creative self-starter with a passion for communication, digital media, graphic design, and photography. In this role, you will be responsible for partnering with stakeholders across the company to produce digital and print assets in support of improvement initiatives. The intern needs to maintain a flexible attitude toward requested changes to concepts and designs. He or she must be able to work independently and with a team.


    Job Duties:
    • Develop and execute concepts, designs, and graphics that support both traditional print and digital media consistent with outlined strategies and goals. The design work could include logo creation, newsletters & e-newsletters, social media presence improvements (Facebook, LinkedIn), flyers, and other collateral
    • Create and manage multiple communication projects while ensuring clarity, consistency, and effectiveness
    • Analyze data to measure the effectiveness of improvements made through communication initiatives
    • Participate in meetings and review sessions to discuss needs and expectations
    • Efficiently manage multiple projects concurrently, proof all work prior to submission, and provide detailed specifications for production purposes
    • Photo editing based on concept and design needs


    Skills:
    • Proficiency in photo editing, Microsoft Office Suite including PowerPoint & Publisher
    • Ability to provide creative design ideas and communicate them visually as well as verbally or in writing
    • Knowledge of photography; knowledge of or experience with video editing is a plus
    • Flexibility & positive attitude when new projects and design changes are requested
    • Curiosity & willingness to learn
    • Knowledge and ability to edit and design within digital platforms such as Facebook and LinkedIn


    Commitment Requirements:
    • A minimum of ten (10) hours per week is required


    Education & Submission Requirements:
    • Person must be presently enrolled in a collegiate degree program, with preference given to those with demonstrated interest in Graphic Arts, Visual Design, and Communication
