    LEARN Marketing and Communications Internship

    LEARN – the Regional Educational Service Center for southeastern Connecticut (located in Old Lyme, CT)– seeks a marketing and communications intern for immediate hire. The successful candidate will work with the LEARN Development Department, which facilitates a network of about 600 employees and thousands of students in several programs and locations, including seven magnet schools. The intern will work with the Marketing, Communications, and Advocacy Coordinator and the position will be located at LEARN’s headquarters at 44 Hatchetts Hill Road in Old Lyme, Conn.

    The internship is unpaid, but will be provide candidates with opportunities to write and develop their skills while receiving course credit from their respective colleges or universities.**  All interested candidates are encouraged to apply.

    The successful candidate will:

    • Write, develop, and publish stories of interest that highlight LEARN’s mission and support the work done in schools and program;
    • take photographs and video of events and programs at LEARN schools and locations;
    • Assist in day-to-day functions of the Development Department;
    • Contribute to LEARN’s social media presence through posts, photos, and other content; and
    • Perform other tasks as determined by supervisors.

    This internship is open to all college students enrolled in an undergrad or postgraduate program. The desired candidate should:

    • Major or minor in Communication, Journalism, English, Public Relations, or a related field;
    • Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills;
    • Be proficient in Adobe programs, including InDesign, Illustrator, and Acrobat, as well as Microsoft Office Suite;
    • Demonstrate proficiency and good judgment in social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram; and
    • Be enthusiastic and ready to work with a talented and collaborative team, as well as students and schools.

    The internship requires reliable transportation and fingerprinting will be required. The length of the internship and number of hours per week will be determined with consultation from the candidate’s college or academic advisor.
