Funding/Grants/Scholarships

  • U21 Funding Opportunity-Faculty, Staff, & Students

Global Affairs is excited to announce a funding opportunity open to all UConn faculty, staff, and students. The funding is provided by Universitas 21, an international network of which UConn is a member, which is celebrating a milestone anniversary. All pertinent details are below.

Universitas 21, the leading international network of research-intensive universities, is celebrating their 21st anniversary by inviting partner universities (such as UConn) to submit proposals for seed funding of special projects, initiatives and events. The project must meet the following criteria to be considered for funding:

    • Supports the main strategic objective of U21, which is to promote the value and benefits of Internationalization.
    • Offers a unique opportunity to enrich the staff and student experience within your institution.
    • Will positively raise the profile of U21 – projects that have an impact on individuals from more than one member will be preferred.
    • Can be badged in some way to recognize and celebrate U21@21.
    • Would not be possible without U21 seed funds (this fund is not intended to provide substitute funding). Any matched funding will advantage an application.
    • Has the support of your U21 Senior Leader (and a relevant staff advocate for applications from students).

Funding Available: $5,000 is the anticipated maximum funding allocated for any individual proposal. However, larger amounts will be considered, particularly if the proposal demonstrates wide institutional cooperation and impacts on staff/students from more than one U21 member. UConn may submit multiple applications as an institution, however multiple applications from any one individual will not be approved.

Eligible Applicants: All UConn students, staff, academics may apply.

Application Instructions: Applications require approval from UConn’s designated U21 Senior Leader, UConn’s Assistant Vice President for Global Affairs. Additional information about application procedures, dates, and questions about funding can be found on the U21@21 funding page.

To receive a letter of support from UConn’s designated U21 Senior Leader by the U21 given deadline, please submit the U21@21 UConn Application to Global Affairs (global@uconn.edu) by November 1, 2017. Global Affairs will submit all applications to U21 on behalf of the applicants.
