This year, the University of Connecticut has again partnered with The Undergraduate Awards, a Dublin-based organization that sponsors a pan-disciplinary international competition for outstanding undergraduate student papers in over two dozen disciplines. The Undergraduate Awards competition, which is divided into seven regions – Africa & the Middle East, Asia, Europe, Ireland, Latin America, Oceania and US & Canada – is open to all undergraduate students. There is no fee for entering, and students may submit up to three pieces of research or project work. All Global Winners are published in The Undergraduate Journal, which is circulated internationally. Winners and Highly Commended Entrants are also invited to the four-day UA Global Summit in Dublin, Ireland, where they will have the opportunity to mix with a truly international group of similarly minded, high-potential scholars. This past fall, UConn student Laura Mandell (NUR ’16), whose submission was Highly Commended in the 2016 competition, attended the Global Summit.
Please share this opportunity with students in your department who have done original research or project work this year (including, but not limited to Honors thesis students) and let them know that they can contact Vin Moscardelli (vin.moscardelli@uconn.edu), Director of the Office of National Scholarships and Fellowships, if they have any questions about their eligibility or about the application process more generally. More details on the submission process and competition guidelines are available on the Undergraduate Awards website. Submissions are due no later than June 13.
