    The GEU-UAW Local 6950 Women’s Committee Presents:

Feminism and Academia — International Women’s Day Panel Discussion and Reception
    When: March 9th, 3:30-5:00p.m.
Where: Wilbur Cross South Reading Room

You are cordially invited to join the GEU Women’s Committee this International Women’s Day to discuss feminism and academia. This panel is an opportunity for women in the University of Connecticut community to discuss the role of feminism in academia. Some academics study feminist endeavors and gender discrimination in their research, but there are other ways to be feminist in one’s daily work and scholarly pursuits. In this panel, we will explore the gendered power structures in place in academia and the ways in which we can dismantle those structures to allow inclusive access for women and other disenfranchised groups. The goal of this event is to bring together women researchers from across the University of Connecticut campus to start those discussions and build a feminist conversation and community in academia.
