    Fellowships in Research and Science Teaching (FIRST) - Emory University School of Medicine, Division of Training, Workforce Development, and

    Diversity (TWD)               

                   

                     

    Emory University School of Medicine, located in Atlanta, offers postdoctoral fellowships to promote biomedical research and teaching in the sciences. Fellowships are offered for a maximum of three years. The Division of Training, Workforce Development, and Diversity (TWD) invests in the fellows that are expected to teach at Emory University. Each year the fellows will build upon their teaching experience to eventually plan and teach their own course. Fellows will also develop research to be published. This program combines interdisciplinary research education that includes instruction in pedagogy, classroom technologies, and mentorship of undergraduates.

    Open only to U.S. citizens or permanent residents.

     

    ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

    Must have received Ph.D. degree or equivalent. Must have completed no more than two years of prior postdoctoral training in a research laboratory. Must show teaching ability and scientific potential. Must commit to stay in the program at least 3 years. Members of underrepresented groups are strongly encouraged to apply. CV. Personal Data Form. Introductory letter addressed to program director, Dr.

    Douglas C. Eaton, that includes why you are interested in FIRST, your research experience, your interest in teaching and your career plans after fellowship training. 2 letters of recommendation. Letter from proposed research mentor endorsing your application to the program.

    STIPEND

    Stipends based on recommended stipend levels for individuals receiving support through institutional or individual National Research Service Awards. Travel expenses of $1,000 and research expenses of $3,000 offered.
