    Charles Redd Center for Western Studies – various fellowships and awards

    The mission of the Charles Redd Center for Western Studies is to promote the study of the Intermountain West by sponsoring research, publication, teaching, and public programs in a variety of academic disciplines including history, geography, sociology, anthropology, politics, economics, literature, art, folklore, range science, forestry, biology, and popular culture. The center offers a variety of awards, fellowships, and grants. These include funding for research in women’s history, for study in special collections, and summer awards for graduate students.

    Dan David Doctoral Prize - Literature

    Scholarships support interdisciplinary research that cuts across traditional boundaries and paradigms. The Prize aims to foster universal values of excellence, creativity, justice, democracy and progress and to promote the scientific, technological and humanistic achievements that advance and improve the world. The scholarship offers support for one year. The Dan David Prize laureates annually donate twenty scholarships of US$15,000 each to outstanding doctoral students and postdoctoral researchers of exceptional promise in the chosen fields for the current year.

    Fahs-Beck Fund for Research and Experimentation in Human Services (Dissertation and Postdoctoral)

    Grants of up to $5,000 are available to help support dissertation expenses of doctoral students in the United States and Canada whose studies have the potential for adding significantly to knowledge about problems in the functioning or well being of children, adults, couples, families, or communities, or about interventions designed to prevent or alleviate such problems. Grants of up to $20,000 are available to help support the research of faculty members or post-doctoral researchers affiliated with non-profit human service organizations in the United States and Canada. The research for which funding is requested must focus on the United States or Canada or on a comparison between the United States or Canada and one or more other countries.

    Gerald P Ford Scholar Award

    The Gerald R. Ford Scholar Award in Honor of Robert M. Teeter is an annual award of $5000 given to a doctoral student to support dissertation research and writing on an aspect of the United States political process and public policy, broadly defined. The Selection Committee will consider research in any field related to the study of the United States political process and public policy, broadly defined, during the last half of the 20th century.  Of special interest is the role and analysis of public opinion in that process. Doctoral students in Political Science, History, Journalism, Communications, Public Policy, Foreign Relations, or American Studies are encouraged to apply.

    Humanities Institute Environmental Humanities Fellowship Program - New York Botanical Gardens

    The Humanities Institute offers various research fellowships, including a full-time, residential Andrew W. Mellon Fellowship for 2017 for current Ph.D. students or recent post-doctoral researchers, and a Junior Mellon Fellowship, for advanced undergraduate and graduate students for the summer of 2017. Candidates are invited to submit a proposal for independent study in the environmental humanities. Fellows will conduct research that involves interdisciplinary approaches to areas such as landscape and garden design; urban planning and social history; cultural anthropology; the history and philosophy of botany; botanical exploration, botanical arts and illustration, with a primary focus on areas of inquiry that connect nature to the human experience.

    Institute for Humane Studies PhD Scholarships

    Each year IHS awards PhD Scholarships to applicants intending careers in higher education or other academic pursuits whose work advances the principles of individual liberty and economic freedom. Preference is given to applicants doing work in the humanities and social sciences, particularly economics, history, philosophy, and political science. Applicants for the IHS PhD Scholarship must demonstrate research interest in the area of individual and economic freedom and its impact on societies and culture as well as a strong overall academic record.

    Lemmermann Foundation Scholarship Award

    The Lemmermann Foundation offers scholarships in the classical studies and humanities to master's and doctoral students. Topic of research must be related to Rome and the Roman culture of any period, from the Pre-Roman period to the present day time. Applicants must provide evidence for their need to study and carry out research in Rome.

    Women’s Studio Workshop Internships

    The Women’s Studio Workshop provides the following opportunities: studio internships, art administration internship, summer internship, and ceramics internship. Since 1983, Women’s Studio Workshop’s Internship Program has been providing young artists with the opportunity to learn first-hand how women can manage productive, successful careers as professional artists. WSW interns learn techniques for developing their work, build various computer and studio-based skills, and are introduced to methods of gaining funding and exhibition opportunities. Interns also learn about the management of a renowned arts organization.
