    The Honors Program is accepting applications for admission from students who will be sophomores or juniors in the Fall 2017 semester.  I’d like to take this opportunity to provide you with information and links about the Honors Program application timeline, process, and recruitment.

    Rising Junior Application – Required Honors Scholar Preliminary Plan of Study:

    • Requires approval of the Honors advisors and department head in the major:

        • Honors advisors must sign each student’s preliminary plan of study form;

        • Department heads will be sent a list of rising junior Honors applicants for review;

    • “Honors in the Major” - departments agree to provide the student access to:

        • 12 credits of Honors coursework in the major or related (via 2000-level or above Honors courses, conversions, graduate courses, independent studies, or thesis course),

        • Faculty mentor for the student’s honors thesis;

    • Departmental Honors Requirements - departments may also set specific criteria in addition to the minimum University-wide requirements;

    • Three additional Honors credits are required to reach a total of 15 Honors credits;

    • “Honors Breadth and Depth” requirements.

    Rising Sophomores (Class of 2020):

    • complete all parts of the Honors Program application except the Honors Scholar Preliminary Plan of Study;

    • do not need departmental approval for admission into Honors as sophomores;

    • are admitted on a space-available basis as determined by the Honors Program;

    • will seek departmental approval via the Honors Scholar Preliminary Plan of Study to continue in or join the Honors Program as juniors next year.
