Future (RFF)
Resources for the Future (RFF) offers 3 yearlong awards to PhD students researching their dissertation on the environment, natural resources, or energy. RFF is a nonprofit and nonpartisan organization that conducts independent research - rooted primarily in economics and other social sciences - on environmental, energy, natural resource and environmental health issues. Awardees will be invited to present their research at RFF, located in Washington DC.
DISCIPLINES
Life Sciences. Physical Sciences. Social Sciences. School of Public Health. School of Public Affairs. Open to fields related to policy research on natural resources and environment issues. Mainly social sciences but also physical and biological sciences if proposals have an immediate and obvious link to environmental policy matters.
ACADEMIC LEVEL
Current Graduate Students. Students Working on Doctoral Dissertation.
CITIZENSHIP
No citizenship requirements.
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
Candidates must have completed the preliminary examinations for their doctorate prior to the application deadline. Proposals from the physical or biological sciences must have an immediate and obvious link to environmental policy matters. Cover letter. CV. Transcript. One-page abstract of the dissertation. Technical summary of the dissertation. A letter from the department chair or other university official certifying the student's doctoral candidacy. 2 letters of recommendation from faculty members on the student's dissertation committee. Proposals originating in economics and other social sciences will have the greatest likelihood of success. Women and minority candidates are strongly encouraged to apply.
STIPEND
Stipend of $18,000 per year.
