    Fulbright-Hays Doctoral Dissertation Research Abroad Program - U.S.

    Department of Education            

                   

    The US Department of Education annually awards 86 fellowships for knowledgeable doctoral students to research abroad for 6-12 months.

    Motivated and self-reliant researchers will study in a different country to foster growth in the Fellow's chosen field. Fellows will carry out a realistic research project abroad.

     

    DISCIPLINES

    Humanities. Social Sciences. School of Arts and Architecture. School of Education and Information Studies. School of Management. School of Public Affairs. School of Theater, Film, & TV. Specifically fields related to modern foreign languages, cultural, and area studies.

     

    ACADEMIC LEVEL

    Students Working on Doctoral Dissertation.

     

    CITIZENSHIP

    Open only to U.S. citizens or permanent residents.

     

    ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

    Must be advanced to doctoral candidacy at time of tenure. Must plan a teaching career at the college level in the U.S. Must have language skills necessary to carry out research. Must be nominated by the UCLA Graduate Division. The student's application must be submitted through the appropriate channels at his or her university, and transmitted by by the university's Project Director. Must apply on this website:

    https://www.g5.gov Must be in good health. Preference priorities in the geographic region of sub-Saharan Africa, South Asia, and Southeast Asia.

    Projects focusing on Western Europe are not supported. Preference is given to Multi-disciplinary fields of study. Preference is given to Less Commonly Taught Languages (LCTLs).

     

    STIPEND

    Awards range from $15,000 to $60,000 for travel, living and research expenses.
