    American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics Graduate Scholarships

    To help support promising future aerospace professionals, the AIAA Foundation annually awards financial aid to undergraduate and graduate students in science or engineering programs related to aerospace. Our goal is to help attract top science and engineering students to aerospace field, to provide high-visibility recognition of these students and their work, to furnish financial assistance to aerospace students, and to assure the availability of the talented professionals the aerospace industry will need in the years ahead.

    Through its annual graduate scholarship program, the AIAA Foundation presents awards to graduate students doing excellent research in the air and space sciences.

    Argonne Laboratory-Graduate Programs

    Argonne supports graduate students in their pursuit of science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) careers by providing educational and scientific opportunities throughout the graduate school experience. The lab supports three distinct programs – guest graduate, thesis parts and laboratory graduate.

    Department of Energy Computational Science Graduate Fellowship

    The DOE CSGF provides outstanding benefits and opportunities to students pursuing doctoral degrees in fields that use high-performance computing to solve complex science and engineering problems. The program fosters a community of energetic and committed Ph.D. students, alumni, DOE laboratory staff and other scientists who want to have an impact on the nation while advancing their research. Fellows come from diverse scientific and engineering disciplines but share a common interest in using computing in their research.

    Educational Testing Service’s Summer Internship Program in Research for Graduate Students

    Interns in this eight-week program participate in research under the guidance of an ETS mentor. Each intern is required to give a brief presentation about the project at the conclusion of the internship. The internship is carried out in the ETS offices in Princeton, N.J., in one of two research areas: Validity (Design and Development; Fairness; Score Meaning, Interpretation and Reporting; Consequences) and Games, Simulation & Collaboration.

    National Institutes of Health National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute - Ruth L. Kirschstein National Research Service Award (NRSA) Individual Predoctoral Fellowship (Parent F31)

    The purpose of the Kirschstein-NRSA predoctoral fellowship (F31) award is to enable promising predoctoral students to obtain individualized, mentored research training from outstanding faculty sponsors while conducting dissertation research in scientific health-related fields relevant to the missions of the participating NIH Institutes and Centers. The proposed mentored research training must reflect the applicant’s dissertation research project and is expected to clearly enhance the individual’s potential to develop into a productive, independent research scientist. The training plan should document the need for, and the anticipated value of, the proposed mentored research and training in relationship to the individual’s research career goals. The training plan should also facilitate the fellow’s transition to the next stage of his/her research career.

    Citizenship: By the time of award, the individual must be a citizen or a non-citizen national of the United States or have been lawfully admitted for permanent residence

    National Institutes of Health Summer Internships Program in Biomedical Research

    Summer programs at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) provide an opportunity to spend a summer working at the NIH side-by-side with some of the leading scientists in the world, in an environment devoted exclusively to biomedical research. The NIH consists of the 240-bed Mark O. Hatfield Clinical Research Center and more than 1200 laboratories/research projects located on the main campus in Bethesda, MD and the surrounding area as well as in Baltimore and Frederick, MD; Research Triangle Park, NC; Hamilton, MT; Framingham, MA; and Detroit, MI.  NOTE: the number of positions in Hamilton, Framingham, and Detroit is limited.

    National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration – John A Knauss Marie Policy Fellowship

    The Sea Grant Knauss Fellowship provides a unique educational and professional experience to graduate students who have an interest in ocean, coastal and Great Lakes resources and in the national policy decisions affecting those resources. Executive fellowships will allow you to see the inner workings of how Federal regulations and policies are developed and implemented. Legislative fellowship appointments are in an office in the Senate or House, in a Personal (i.e. Member of Congress) or Committee office, and in a Republican or Democratic office.

    National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration – Sea Grant Fellowships

    In 1999, NOAA National Sea Grant Office and NOAA Fisheries established a Graduate Fellowship Program in two specialized areas: population and ecosystem dynamics as well as marine resource economics. Population and ecosystem dynamics involve the study of fish populations and marine ecosystems to better assess fishery stock conditions and dynamics. Ph.D. candidates interested in the population and ecosystem dynamics of living marine resources and the development and implementation of quantitative methods for assessing their status can receive up to three years of funding. Ph.D. students in marine resource economics, concentrating on the conservation and management of living marine resources, can receive two years of funding.

    Society of Women Engineers Scholarships

    The SWE Scholarship Program provides financial assistance to women admitted to accredited baccalaureate or graduate programs, in preparation for careers in engineering, engineering technology and computer science. In 2016, SWE disbursed over 220 new and renewed scholarships valued at over $750,000.
