    Citizenship

    Foreign nationals are eligible if they have resided in the U.S. for 3 years immediately preceding the application deadline.

     

    Eligibility Requirements

    Must have completed their formal professional training and have a strong record of accomplishment within their field. No restriction relating to age or academic status of applicants. 2-3 page proposal, describing the theme of the major research project the fellow will undertake, and stating specifically why the resources of the New-York Historical Society are critical to the project. CV. A short writing sample of no more than 3,000 words or ten pages. Three letters of recommendation.

     

    Stipend

    Stipend of $42,000, plus benefits.

    Bernard and Irene Schwartz Fellowship - New-York Historical Society, Eugene Lang College of Liberal Arts

    Eligibility Requirements

    Must have completed PhD in history of American Studies before the end of the current academic school year. Two- to three-page proposal describing the theme of the research project and the New-York Historical Society resources critical to the project. A curriculum vitae. A writing sample of no more than 3,000 words or ten pages. Two detailed syllabi for undergraduate courses. Three letters of recommendation.

     

    Stipend

    Stipend of $60,000, plus benefits.

    Program Description

    The New-York Historical Society is offering two fellowships to research at the Society, supported by the Eugene Lang College of Liberal Arts.

    Fellows will teach one course per semester at Eugene Lang College in addition to conducting focused research in residence at the New-York Historical Society.

    The New-York Historical Society is offering two one-year fellowships to research at the Society. Research projects may include the conversion of a dissertation into a publishable manuscript or the initiation of new research based on the collections and resources of the New-York Historical Society.
