Honors Events: Storrs (may fulfill a UHL requirement)

  • Thurs 10/27 - They Called Me Osama: Film Screening

Join us for a screening of 'They Called Me Osama,' a short documentary on Sikhi in America. The documentary features first-hand accounts of hate crimes, cyber racism, and bullying experienced by Sikh Americans, and aims to educate those unfamiliar with Sikhi on concepts that are often misperceived in post-9/11 America.

The film screening will take place at 5:00pm in Konover Auditorium in the Dodd Center. A discussion and Q&A with filmmaker Maneetpaul Singh will follow the screening.

Maneetpaul Singh is a 2015 University of Connecticut graduate, earning a dual degree in Digital Media & Design and Business Administration from the Stamford campus. Maneet was awarded funding from the UConn IDEA Grant program to direct and produce the film.

This event is coordinated by the Office of Undergraduate Research. Attending this event counts towards Sophomore Honors.
