Earth Institute Postdoctoral Fellowship Program, Columbia University

The EI Fellows program provides innovative postdoctoral scholars with the opportunity to build a foundation in one of the core disciplines represented within the Earth Institute (i.e. social, earth, biological, engineering, and health sciences), while at the same time acquiring the breadth of cross-disciplinary expertise needed to address critical issues related to sustainable development. Specific areas of research include food security, energy systems, climate change impacts, poverty reduction, disease, and environmental degradation. The program offers a unique intellectual surrounding that fosters cross-disciplinary interaction, research and education.

    Faculty for the Future Fellowships

Faculty for the Future fellowships are awarded to women from developing and emerging economies who are preparing for PhD or post-doctoral study in the physical sciences and related disciplines at top universities for their disciplines abroad. The long-term goal of the Faculty for the Future program is to generate conditions that result in more women pursuing scientific disciplines. Grant recipients are therefore selected as much for their leadership capabilities as for their scientific talents, and they are expected to return to their home countries to continue their academic careers and inspire other young women.

Citizenship: Citizen of a developing country or country with an emerging economy (see website for list)

    Deadline: November 18, 2016

The fellows most often conduct their research in a collaborative, multidisciplinary manner with others in a team environment.

Applicants must either be in the process of completing their Ph.D. (within one year and employment may not start until Ph.D. requirements have been verified), or have received their Ph.D. degree within five years of being hired as a Lawrence Fellow.
