  • 2017 SHARE Awards - Applications Open

The Social Sciences, Humanities, and Arts Research Experience (SHARE) Award is a research apprenticeship program designed especially for students in the earlier stages of their college careers. A SHARE project serves as an introduction to research in a chosen field and helps students develop the skills they will need for further research projects. SHARE Awardees spend 10 hours per week during the Spring 2017 semester working on a faculty project.

Eligibility: First-, second-, or third-year undergraduate students who are majoring or pre-majoring in the social sciences, humanities, or arts at any UConn campus are eligible to apply. Students must have a minimum 2.8 GPA and must be a full-time student at a UConn campus (i.e., not studying abroad) during the SHARE semester - Spring 2017.

Funding: During the spring semester, student apprentices will receive a $1,500 stipend (paid out as an hourly wage) and faculty mentors will receive a $500 professional development stipend.

SHARE Teams: SHARE teams consist of a faculty mentor and a student apprentice who apply jointly for the program. Students interested in the program are encouraged to approach faculty members to express their interest in a potential project.

Deadline: The online applications are now open. Interested faculty and student teams must submit their applications by 11:59pm on October 24, 2016. Program details and a link to the online application are available on the SHARE page of the OUR website.
