  • NEASC Accreditation Visit

    Dear Faculty, Staff, and Students,

Every 10 years, the University of Connecticut undergoes reaccreditation by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC), and in particular, by NEASC’s Commission on Institutions of Higher Education (CIHE). CIHE is the regional accrediting body for 241 colleges and universities in New England and eleven overseas institutions. For the last two years, a committee of faculty, staff, and administrators has been working on a self-study to submit to NEASC. We have sent emails on our progress periodically, and our report, along with appendices and other relevant material, is available on our 2016 NEASC Accreditation website.

Our steering and standards committee was originally charged with using the 2011 standards of accreditation, but at the request of NEASC, we modified our original draft to meet the new 2016 standards.

Our NEASC site visit will take place September 26-28. The names of the members of the visitation team are available on the accreditation website. The team represents outstanding faculty, staff, and administrators from a broad variety of institutions including UMass, Brown, Tufts, Boston University, and the Universities of Buffalo, Illinois, Maine, Rhode Island, and Vermont. We look forward to learning from our colleagues during this site visit. We will post a schedule for the upcoming visit on our accreditation website in the next week, but we invite you now to attend one of the open forums for faculty, students, or staff that are scheduled on Monday, September 26, from 3:30 to 4:30.

    • Student Open Forum: Wilbur Cross Building, North Reading Room

The Standards and Steering Committee (listed below) extends its appreciation to all of the faculty, staff, and students who have been or will be engaged in the accreditation process.
