Welcome everyone to the new academic year! I hope it’s off to a great start! As returning Honors advisors know, this is the first installment of the Honors Advisors Digest, a monthly collection of information valuable to those who advise Honors students. The Digest typically comes out on the first Thursday of the month and contains tips, deadlines, information about events, updates, and the like. We hope that you find it to be a useful tool in working with your advisees.
We will also be continuing the practice of holding information sessions for Honors advisors in both the fall and spring semesters. This year we’re modifying our offerings in that the theme of the fall sessions will take the form of an “Honors Advising 101”, intended for those who are new to Honors advising and those who would like a refresher on Honors requirements, policies, and the like. Our spring sessions will include updates and timelines, but it will also include an idea exchange so that advisors can ask questions of each other and share best practices. We hope to have a couple of advisors talk to the group about Honors advising in their departments and what’s worked for them.
Our fall meetings will be on Tuesday, Oct. 4 from 1:30 to 2:30 pm in ROWE 134 and Wednesday, Oct. 12 from 10:00 to 11:00 am in ROWE 134. Please let us know which one you’d like to attend by RSVPing. We look forward to seeing you there!
