First Generation College Students

  • First Generation Mentorship Program

The First Generation Mentorship Program is a unique opportunity that provides students with guidance and support from UConn alumni who have been in their position, gives students the chance to develop their interpersonal skills, and helps facilitate connections with mentors that can last a lifetime. It is open to any undergraduate student who is the first in their family to go to college.

    This program provides:

    • Access to Resources: Mentors can provide you with access to resources such as career guidance and networking opportunities. These resources can help you develop the skills and knowledge you need to succeed in your professional life.
    • Personalized Support: Learn from experienced mentors who can help you navigate the challenges of life. A mentor can provide you with guidance, advice, and feedback to help you achieve your goals.
    • Community Building: Build a sense of community through the program. You can connect with other first-generation students who are facing similar challenges and share your experiences and insights.
    • Professional Development: Develop the skills and knowledge you need to succeed in your future career. You can learn about different career paths, gain valuable experience, and build your professional network
