Here's a quick visual to help determine the differences between withdrawing from a course and putting a course on P/F.
Action | What Shows on Your Transcript | Do You Earn Credit? | Is Your GPA Affected? | Can the Course Be Used to Fulfill Requirements? |
Withdraw | W | No | No | No |
Pass/Fail and you Pass | P@ | Yes | No | No |
Pass/Fail and you Fail | F@ | No | No | No |
To know about P/F:
- You can put up to 12 credits over three courses on P/F your entire college career (not counting spring ’20).
- Students can put one course on P/F per semester.
- You have to be in good academic standing to put a course on P/F.
- Courses on P/F cannot be used to fulfill major, minor, gen ed, or related requirements.
April 8 is the deadline to both withdraw and P/F. To do either, go to https://registrar.uconn.edu/forms/ and submit the “Student Enrollment Request Form”.
