A current POLS major and former Aerospace Industries Association (AIA) intern is sharing the information that AIA is hiring for their summer internship program. Our POLS major says:
"This opportunity will ask you to analyze policies and critical developments within the aerospace and defense industry. This can include tracking legislation in Congress and reading research reports from government agencies and think tanks. Interns get to attend meetings with senior executives of major companies and representatives from government agencies including NASA, FAA, DoD, and the Dept of Commerce to advocate for the interests of the aerospace and defense industry. You will also get experience with event planning and logistics, communications, and have the opportunity to collaborate with other policy divisions."
This particular student worked directly under the VP of National Security, and was able to attend political events all over the city as well as work with other AIA policy divisions. Based on this experience, the student recommends looking at Communications, Civil Aviation, International Affairs, Legislative Affairs, and National Security as particularly relevant policy divisions.
