    Honors & Enrichment Programs Graduate Assistantship

    Job Summary:
    Graduate Assistantship (20 hours per week) for 2022-2023 Academic Year

    The Honors & Enrichment Programs Graduate Assistant will support STEM students by creating community and professional development opportunities, advising student organizations, administering programs by coordinating with campus partners, and developing communication strategies with student groups. This person will report to the Honors Program Assistant Director for Honors Advising and will support the goals of Honors & Enrichment Programs.

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Participate in Honors recruitment events, such as Husky for a Day, Open House, and Honors receptions.
    • Organize weekly communication to STEM Scholars with reminders, events, etc.
    • Work with specific STEM student organizations on STEM outreach initiatives with local K-12 schools.
    • Collaborate with the Honors Programming and Residential Life staff to develop events and programs for STEM Scholars to fill gaps in experience (e.g. alumni, career, outreach, etc.).
    • Plan and deliver a STEM Skills Series for STEM Scholars.
    • Advise the Honors in STEM student organization (a registered student org), including advising the executive board and general student body.
    • Assist STEM student groups and the Honors in STEM organizations collaborate on initiatives.
    • Collaborate with partners on outreach events.
    • Communicate with student groups about opportunities and expectations using email, social media, and website maintenance.
    • Assess and evaluate programs by staying apprised of best practices, benchmarking, developing learning outcomes, maintaining databases, and reporting for various audiences.
    • Complete special projects or other duties as assigned.
    • Some evening and weekend hours may be required.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    • Pursuing a graduate degree at UConn in a related field.
    • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
    • Experience in a STEM discipline.
    • Experience with student affairs.
    • Proven ability to plan, coordinate, and implement individual and group programs and services that meet students’ needs.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Pursuing a Ph.D. at UConn in a related field.
    • A degree in a STEM discipline.
    • Experience in an Honors Program or college as a student or staff member.
    • Experience working with high-achieving students.
    • Experience with assessment and program evaluation.
    • Proven ability to work independently and to solve problems and approach challenges in a flexible and/or creative way.
