    Happy new year, Honors advisors!

I hope the semester is starting off smoothly.  If you have any questions about Honors requirements or policies, I am happy to chat via Webex or email.  You can also send me a message on Teams.

Honors staff advisors have updated drop-in advising hours (s.uconn.edu/honorsdropin) this semester - students are encouraged to drop in if they have quick questions about Honors requirements or getting connected to campus resources.  Students can also schedule appointments with us on Nexus (s.uconn.edu/honorsadvising)!

We have two new Honors Program staff members to introduce to the Honors Advisors community:

Dr. Coral Fernandez-Illescas joined us in November as the Honors STEM Scholar Advisor and is primarily involved with advising STEM Scholars and other Honors students in STEM fields towards their development and success.  Coral holds a Ph.D. and a M.A. from Princeton University’s Environmental Engineering and Water Resources Program and a Master’s of Engineering in Civil and Environmental Engineering from the Imperial College of Science, Technology and Medicine in London. Most recently, she has practiced STEM worldwide as Principal Water Resources/Lead Water and Sanitation Specialist for the Asian Development Bank and the Inter-American Development Bank, based in the Philippines and/or Washington, DC.

Daniel Hoddinott joined us last week as the Honors Program Assistant Director for Residential Communities and Programming and will be leading our Honors programming efforts and Residential Life activities.  Daniel is a graduate of Syracuse University with a Masters in Higher Education as well as Rutgers University with dual Bachelor of Arts degress in Human Resource Management and Labor Studies and Employment Relations.  Most recently, Daniel worked as Assistant Director for the Asian and Asian American Center at Cornell University, with a brief stint as Interim Assistant Director for Multicultural Student Leadership and Development.

Thank you for all that you do to support our students!  I wish you all the best in the upcoming semester.
