  • Dependents of an Active Duty Service Member

Students who are the child dependents of an active duty service member may be eligible for a nationally competitive scholarship to study abroad in the amount of $5,000. The Gilman-McCain Scholarship is congressionally funded and open to child dependents who also receive federal financial aid. The award can be used towards any expenses related to the cost of the study abroad program, including airfare, housing and travel in addition to program fees or tuition.

The Gilman-McCain application will open in mid-January 2022 for applicants whose in-person programs start between May 1, 2022, to April 30, 2023. This cycle encompasses Summer 2022, Fall 2022, Academic Year 2022-2023, and Spring 2023 programs or internships. The application deadline is Tuesday, March 1, 2022, at 11:59pm Pacific Time.

Eligible students should schedule an advising appointment in Nexus with Valerie Jenkelunas or LuAnn Saunders-Kanabay to learn more about the application process.
