  • Communications Director - UConn Student Government

    Job Description 

    The Communications Director will be responsible for updating and communicating with the entire UConn community on behalf of UConn Student Government (USG).

    • They will supervise a team including Graphic Designers, Multimedia Specialists and a Creative Director.

    • They will utilize all forms of media to build, maintain, and manage the brand and reputation of USG

    • They will plan and execute publicity strategies through the various means, including press releases/conferences, social media posts, and developing relationships with local press.

    • They will advise the Undergraduate Student Government on all matters related to public relations and communications.

    Requirements:

    1. Flexible schedule that includes 10-15 hours a week of work  

    2. High level oforganizational and communication skills

    3. Understanding of social media and marketing strategies

    4. Competency in writing press releases and public communications 

    5. Skilled in crisis leadership and public relations management

    6. Available for weekly Governing Board Meetings and Wednesday night USGSenate meetings

    Wage: $14.40/hour

    The Undergraduate Studies Committee of the UConn Department of Communication is proud to announce that Lauren Lewis (CLAS '21) has been selected as the 2021 Martin Horn Scholarship winner.

    Lauren is a senior from West Haven, CT with an impressive GPA who has engaged in a host of extracurricular activities, including working as a mentor for Communication Students in UConn's The Major Experience program, serving as the Concert Chair for SUBOG, and as a Big Brothers, Big Sisters mentor.   Lauren also works as a COMM Tutor for the Student Athlete Success Program, and completed a marketing Internship for Charter Communications last summer. 

    The committee was impressed by Lauren's entire application and record, but would like to call attention to the work she has done through SUBOG to bring artists from underrepresented communities to UConn to enhance the diversity of art and entertainment at the university.
