My name is Alex Grey, a 4th year PhD student in Poli Sci. I am reaching out in my professional capacity with the Direct Reporting Portfolio Manager – Submarines (DRPM-SUB), Office of the Secretary of War. The DRPM has an internship opportunity I think Poli Sci students would be well suited for. The Supervisor of Shipbuilding (SUPSHIP) Groton office is looking to bring on paid interns for this academic year to assist on Columbia-class SSBN (Code 397) projects. Duties would involve assisting the Supervisor in assessing shipbuilding schedules, developing potential efficiencies, and impacts on fleet readiness for various project delays. The requirements of the position are:
- The opportunity is restricted to US citizens
- Must be able to hold a SECRET level clearance
- Able to work 10-15 hrs/wk (some remote work may be available but likely most will be on-site)
- A strong preference for those with data analysis skills, especially in PowerBI
We are interested in both undergraduate and graduate students, and pay will vary based on student experience. This could easily turn into a summer internship if students are interested in remaining with SUPSHIP. Students would be employed as direct service contractors through Serco North America and issued a CAC, government email, and access rights to both the Electric Boat Groton yard and the New London Navy base (SUBASE NLON).
Please have any interested candidates reach out to me directly, I would be more than happy to discuss the opportunity further.
