Dear POLS majors,
We are inviting you to consider applying for the Accelerated Master of Arts (MA) in Political Science at the University of Connecticut.
Pursuing this graduate level program will offer you a transformative opportunity to enhance your professional development and research skills and give you a competitive edge whether you are aiming for policy work, government service, nonprofit leadership or a further academic degree.
What the Program Includes…
The Accelerated MA in Political Science allows you to complete both your BA and MA in Political Science in just five years instead of six, adding only one additional year of graduate coursework beyond your undergraduate degree.
The program requires 10 courses (30 credits) distributed as follows:
- Research methods and professional development courses.
- Elective courses, which can be concentrated in any of the following subfields: American Politics; Comparative Politics; International Relations; Political Theory; and Public Law.
- Independent study on a research project to be presented during the final semester of your graduate year.
You can begin taking graduate-level seminars during your junior and senior years. Up to 4 courses (12 credits) can be counted toward both your BA and MA degrees, provided they are drawn from required or elective Political Science graduate courses.
