Penn Lincoln Strategies, LLC (PLS) is a Hartford, CT-based government relations and public affairs firm that specializes in hands-on, client-focused political and legislative strategic consultation. Founded in 2016, PLS has been recognized by the Hartford Business Journal as one of the Top 20 Government Relations Firms in Connecticut since its inception.
PLS covers a wide range of industries with its work in Connecticut that includes education, economic development, energy, housing, budget matters, consumer protection, AI, and cannabis.
An internship with PLS provides an opportunity for selected candidates to gain unique experience at the Connecticut State Capitol and in the Connecticut government and politics.
The Internship program is scalable to the demands and capacity of the students. PLS hopes to provide an applicable, in-depth, and hands-on experience. PLS seeks to ensure that interns who successfully complete our program are prepared to both succeed in an entry-level policy position as well as gain significant comprehension of state and local government. Many of our interns go on to jobs working on campaigns, state legislative work, as well as with members of Connecticut’s federal delegation.
Job Description:
Penn Lincoln Strategies (PLS) is seeking highly motivated, talented, and intelligent interns for the 2026 Legislative Session. These interns will work with the entire PLS team. Those applying should have the ability to commute to Hartford, have high energy, and be outgoing and upbeat. Applicants should be familiar with Google Suite and Microsoft Office.
Primary Responsibilities:
● Attend meetings and hearings at the Capitol Complex in Hartford;
● Take detailed notes of meetings of which they attend;
● Research and provide analysis on legislation;
● Working with the PLS team to track legislation for clients;
● Assist with administrative duties for the office;
● Assist with managing clients.
Qualifications & Experience:
● A practical and proactive problem solver who possesses strong business acumen and is confident, mature, and calm under fire. Must be able to juggle multiple priorities and tasks in a fast-paced environment while being focused on the matter at hand;
● Excellent written and oral communication skills, interpersonal skills, and leadership skills;
● Strong and demonstrated research skills;
● Must be able to work effectively both independently and with a team;
● Of the highest degree of personal and professional integrity and ethics;
● Must be able to keep the information confidential.

The Internship is about 10-15 hours a week and at the Capitol in Hartford. We do pay a stipend of $500 per month. Applications will be reviewed until December 1, but interviews will begin in early November.
