  • Policy-Oriented Fellowship About AI

    Dear graduate and undergraduate students,

Beneficial and Ethical AI at UConn (BEACON) is running a 7-week policy-oriented intro fellowship, covering topics like AI safety standards and regulations, compute governance, international approaches to AI governance, and career paths in AI policy. See here for more details and to apply!

The fellowship is open to both undergraduate and graduate students. No prior experience with AI or policy is necessary, though we may assign groups according to previous experience.

We'll meet weekly, in small cohorts facilitated by a grad student or upperclassman with research experience and AI policy knowledge. Meals are provided at each meeting, and no work will be assigned outside of weekly meetings. Meeting times will be determined based on when most of the accepted fellows are available. As part of the fellowship, there will be 1-on-1 advising sessions between fellows and PhD students (with frequency determined by the fellows) for support and mentorship.

We think reducing risks from powerful artificial intelligence may be one of the most important problems of our time. If you are interested, we encourage you to complete a 15-minute application here as soon as possible (deadline is Saturday, March 8th).

Please feel free to reach out to me at aidan.kierans@uconn.edu if you have any questions. Thank you!

    Best,

    Aidan Kierans
