MSC SCONA (Student Conference on National Affairs) is an annual collegiate conference held in February that brings together delegates from across the nation and around the world. Each year, students address topics of national and global significance, providing delegates with the opportunity to engage with leading academic scholars, industry professionals, and prominent public figures. Delegates participate in small group "roundtables" led by expert facilitators and collaborate to create policy papers. This year our conference theme is:
World in Flames: Guiding America Through a New Era of Conflict
In recent years, the world has witnessed a significant resurgence of conflicts on the global stage. From the invasion of Ukraine to the ongoing war in Palestine, and the growing militancy of cartels in Central America, the escalation of tensions is undeniable. Throughout the conference, undergraduate and graduate delegates from across the nation will engage in comprehensive analyses of these conflicts, exploring the potential role of the United States. Their efforts will culminate in the development of policy papers that address each region's unique challenges and propose actionable solutions.
Delegates will begin to answer the question: How should the U.S. balance its role as a global peacekeeper with its national interests in each of these regions? What are the potential consequences of increased U.S. involvement or disengagement in these conflicts? How do diplomatic, economic, and military strategies vary across different theaters of conflict, and how should the U.S. adapt its approach accordingly? How does the U.S. approach balancing conflict resolution and long-term stability in these regions?
We are eager to welcome you, with an amazing opportunity to engage in a series of keynote speakers, roundtable discussions, and networking events all while advancing knowledge of prevalent national security issues and policy.
