The CT Judicial Branch Experiential Learning Program's internships portal will be open Nov. 1-Nov. 25. In addition to traditional placements like those in pretrial services, probation, and the clerk's offices, there are some administrative and other placements they'd like to highlight.
"Also, there are a handful of offices in locations where we don't always have a lot of applicants and therefore there is a lot of opportunity there. They are:
Adult probation in Bridgeport, Norwalk, Danielson and Norwich - The Bridgeport and Norwalk offices are looking for students to work with a PSI officer. These students should have excellent writing skills, attention to detail and interest in law enforcement. Norwalk, Danielson and Norwich also have officers who supervise clients who are looking for interns.
Pretrial Services in Waterbury is looking for an intern to work in the Jail Reinterview Program. An ideal student for this placement is interested in criminal justice as well as mental health and/or psychology.
The Stamford clerk’s offices would like interns in both the criminal and civil/family offices.
The Danielson Court has a number of placements available. If you have a student interested in adult probation, clerk’s office, family relations or the office of victim services, those positions are always available in Danielson.
New London is also looking for an intern in their office of victim services.
Finally, our Court Services Centers in Waterbury and New Haven are looking for interns who have strong customer service skills, strong communication skills and an interest in criminal justice. Students who are bilingual are highly sought after in these placements.
If you have students who you think would be willing to travel to those locations, we always have spots available (and we do reimburse for mileage)."
