New for the fall! POLS 2998-008: Innovation & Entrepreneurship for Defense

Taught by Alexander Grey, PhD student in POLS & Fellow in Naval Security, and Lisa McAdam Donegan, faculty with the National Institute for Undersea Vehicle Technology

A part of the nationally-recognized Innovating 4 ecosystem, this course is sponsored by both the Department of Defense and Department of State. Students will work in teams, acting as lean start ups to solve real-world problems sourced from both Departments, interviewing and making connections with program leads across both DoD and State. Problems this semester will focus primarily on the AUKUS submarine and technology sharing collective defense treaty, and both the technological and policy issues which arise from such a paradigm shift. Funding is available for teams to travel to Australia and/or the United Kingdom for site visits as a part of their projects.

The course will be taught in person in Storrs, and can be used to fulfill the international relations major subdivision.
