Hi all,
As the semester begins I want to share a piece of advice that I believe could benefit you in all your classes: be sure to always take notes. Taking notes, both on lectures and out-of-class materials is helpful for many reasons. The first and obvious reason is that by taking notes you have the information from lecture or readings. Some classes may not have the slides or recordings of lecture posted online, so the only way to make sure you have the information for the day is to take notes. These notes can be referred back to when doing homework or studying for exams. Additionally, depending on the course and professor, sometimes the professor will give the class a question on the upcoming exam in lecture and answers it. By taking notes, you could write down the question and answer, and already have a free point or two on the upcoming exam. Aside from just the main reason though, takes notes keeps you engaged with lecture and the material. It encourages you to go to class and engage with the content. By engaging with the content, you'll have a better understanding of the questions on your exams or the material you need to write about in an essay. Your grades can only improve by taking notes.
All the best,
Ryan Cammarano
